Today was a total washout. The rain continued all through the night battering our tent and never stopped until 7:00 PM the following day. We woke up to the cold and wet and decided to sleep in. 6 turned into 9; 9 turned into 12; and 12 turned into 2, at which point the rain had let up enough to consider getting up and hiking a little bit, to not totally waste away the day in the tent reading books and making zero forward progress.

We crammed all our wet gear inside our soaking packs and marched through the wet earth. Eventually the rain came back- because of course it did. It battered our rainwear and soaked our shoes. We were cold and damp and the atmosphere was grim and grey.

For a few minutes we could see some blue sky and the sun trying to get through the clouds. This lasted all but 15 minutes as we stopped for a short break by a spring to make our dinner. We planned to hike 5 more miles but the clouds came back and it started pouring again, so we made the executive order to just stop and cut our losses mileage wise and set up camp.

It finally stopped raining and the sky is looking better. This rain was past overdue, anyway. We had gotten away with hiking 2240 miles without having to ever hike in the rain. It was bound to happen at some point.

Sorry no pictures today. The camera was tucked away nice and dry. Tommorrow we enter the Goat Rocks Wilderness, Qballs favorite part of the PCT. Supposed to be sunshine tommorrow, but we will see.
