We woke up in freezing temperatures. The ground was hard and the plants were frosty with a fuzzy like coating of frost. An inversion hung over the valleys but we were above it in the sun for once. The inversion provided amazing views of the large volcanic mountains that rose above it. They were peaks in a sea of white and grey like shark fins poking out of a smooth ocean.

The Goat Rocks traverse was some of the most stunning scenery yet. The pictures will explain what I mean.

We are warm and dry in a motel room tonight. Back out into the cold and rain tommorrow. ??
