The day started out okay. I woke up and packed my things and then proceeded to take care of business in the woods. On my way back to the trail I had the incredibly unfortunate experience of stepping in some kind of beehive. At once I was attacked and stung multiple times by multiple enemies as my foot struck the ground. I raced away screeching into the wilds like a 3 year old girl who had fallen off her bycicle for the first time and scraped her knee.

Throbbing pain channeled through both of my legs radiating from the attack points. Upon examning my wounds there was a total of 3 stings, two on my right leg and one on my left. It hurt intensely as the sting locations started turning red and bubbling up my skin.

I sat and caught my breath as the intense sharp pains of a new sting ebbed and flowed like a police siren, worsening and lessening like a warble toned ring informing someone they’ve been caught.

All day the pain stayed as both legs started swelling. Eventually the sharp pains stopped. But what remained was a soreness that can only be described as horrendous. They felt like someone had taken a baseball bat and slammed it into the back of my calves not once but multiple times over several sessions, banging and blasting and blustering and bludgeoning my poor and tired legs over and over again.

When we were taking a break I noticed that my right ankle was completely swollen. I couldn’t even see the bone on the ankle anymore, just a blob clinging on where my ankle should have been. It was like a pregnant lady with cankles- a made up word describing the swelling of the legs during pregnancy when it is so severe you cannot seperate where the calves end and the ankles begin.

My legs are so incredibly sore and swollen right now I’m somewhat concerned. It was painful walking today. I hope the swelling goes down and they feel better tommorrow. I really hate bees.
