Zero Day in Cascade Locks
The wind was bad and there is a train track right by the campsite so sleeping was difficult last night. I woke up around 5:30 and pretty much stayed up for the day.
I grabbed some breakfast burritos and a coffe at the diner nearby and started updating the blog. To give some insight, it takes quite awhile to update each day with pictures and captions and update the map with GPS coordinates. It’s a labor of love but I enjoy it. For a backlog of 10 days it probably takes at least two hours to update everything.
I putzed around and just hung out for the morning by the river, charging my electronics and drinking coffee. The Native Americans in the area supposedly have river rights for salmon but by thunder Island there is a small area where the common man can fish. Some people were out there on the banks trying their luck at snagging a large salmon to take home.
I went to the library and played around on the computer for several hours waiting for Carolyn to get dropped off by a guy named Captain Neil who picked her up at the Portland airport. She finally arrived and it was so good to see her back. I’m glad she decided to keep on hiking and see Washington.
We did some errands and grabbed lunch at the Brewery, then spent the afternoon lounging by the river and chatting with Tuxedo who is a professional clown on cruise ships and went to clown college in San Fransisco. He can juggle with fire and walk on 30 foot stilts and do some acrobatic stuff. We got some good tips on how to score cheap one way cruise tickets for dirt cheap traveling from the states to europe.
Back at it tommorrow. Washington here we come!
