It was a difficult 11 miles out to the road but we made it. We got a hitch and went to the doctor in Bend. Everything checked out okay and Carolyn will be fine, so that was a big relief.
Carolyn has decided to leave the trail. I don’t know what to write, really. There are so many emotions swimming in my head- it is not a good feeling. We booked her a flight home tommorrow. My good friend Qball who I hiked the CDT and AT with is driving in to Bend from Portland tonight and has offered to help us with car rides and anything else we may need. I’m lucky to have such a good friend.
Carolyn has her own personal reasons for leaving the trail and it is not my place to write them here.
The trail will not be the same now. I’m beyond bummed out.
