We woke up to a splendid view of Diamond Peak mirroring in the morning light of the still lake. We hiked 5 quick miles through dense forest to Shelter Cove Resort, a small RV park on the shore of Odell Lake.
It was a very nice and quaint place with a good relaxing atmosphere. Since it was morning all the hikers were still sleeping so it felt like we were the only ones there at 8 AM. We did laundry and took showers in the peace and quiet of the morning. But once 10 AM rolled around the hikers started filtering I likes ants to an anthill. Soon there was a line for the laundry that spanned 3 hours (the resort only had 2 washers and driers).
We ate some pizza and bagels with cream cheese as we filtered through our resupply box, cringing at all te things we’ve grown very tired of eating. Some of these items I’d rather eat a bunch of rocks while getting slammed in the face with a baseball bat than take a bite of them.
We rolled out around 1 in the afternoon after eating a bag of Doritos and drinking cherry coke while overlooking the lake, as vacationers cleaned there catch of the day and people zipped through the tranquil waters on water skis, water spraying in the nothing wind as the sunlight bounced through the particles.
The walk in the afternoon was nice, passing by several smaller lakes with clear blue water and walking through a large treed forest that must be centuries old. We are camped at one such lake called Bobby Lake. Someone is snoring in a tent nearby while crickets click and chirp in the waning light. Tommorrow more miles.
