2019 Winter Photography

Since it is now April, I find it acceptable to publish the photographs I managed to capture this winter. My hope is that winter will take the hint and finally leave! The 2018/2019 winter up here in the Upper Peninsula was intense, but I am happy to report that we survived the season in the new house with only a few minor set-backs. I did learn the art of raking a roof, the perils of ice dams,  and became a zen master at clearing the driveway with my snow blower, so it wasn’t all days spent cooped up in the cozy confines of my home. I learned that winter up here is seriously a 5-6 month endeavor and that in order to survive you should probably find something you enjoy doing in the winter months. For me this came in the form of cross-country skiing and photography.

Despite the ice and snow, one learns to find the beauty in this season and appreciate that it too, like the summer, can only be experienced a few months a year. Below are the best images I was able to capture from this special moment in time.
