Miles Hiked: 28

Start Location: Elk Lake

End Location: Mile 1978

I called Carolyn in the morning and she seemed to be doing better. Her flight was good and her mom showed up at the airport with a subway sandwhoch for her. Moms are the best.

She says she  wants to take a week off and then come back to the trail somewhere in washington and finish the trail with me. I was so happy to hear this.

Qball and I went to breakfast at the Sparrow bakery and then headed back out to the trail. The croissant egg sandwhich was out of this world.

We arrived around 10 AM at the trail head and I headed off. He is going to meet me again tommorrow at Santiem Pass and we are going to go back to town.

It was strange walking alone in the woods and I kept looking behind me to spot Carolyn but she was nowhere to be found. Hiking by myself will take time to get used to. It’s certainly not as fun.

I walked all day only stopping to get water. I realized I was tired of hiking and wanted this experience to be concluded as soon as possible. I hiked hard because there was nothing else to do, nobody to joke around with or talk to or take snack breaks with.

The trail was beautiful as I meandered around volcanic rocks and obsidian stones- black and shiny and sharp.

I hope I feel better tomorrow. I’m missing my friend out here. ?

A Lake
Forget the Name
Obsidian
Mars has snow
A volcanic Past
