PCT: Day 45

June 4th, 2016

Miles Hiked: 22

Total Miles: 618

Start Location: Mile 702

End Location: Mile 724

End Location GPS: 36.25981, -118.12676

We got a nice early start and headed out from KM around 5:15. The temperature wasn’t too bad but as we decended into the meadow it got chilly- possibly from a higher humidity level since the Kern River flows through it.

The day was beautiful as we climbed from KM at 6K feet to another meadow at 8k feet. For the first time we saw the snowy peaks of the high Sierra not too far off in the distance. Granite and white stood like a fortress above endless pine tree forests.

The last 8 miles of the day went up and up and up, ascending from 8K to 10.5K feet, an altitude we have not seen since Mount San Jacinto. It was not so bad of a climb, just long, but we were pretty tired when we reached the apex. We are camped up here tonight and don’t know if it will be cold or not since the day was so warm again. We shall see.
