Carolyn decided to continue on. It was a slow morning but she eventually was back to her normal self during the afternoon. Phew!

The hiking was so so the majority of the day. We crossed Halcromb creek a few times and soaked our feet in the water. There isn’t a lot of running water around here so it was a treat.

During the last part of the day we crossed a bridge and followed Deep Creek. It’s a larger creek that runs in a gorge and we will follow this for several miles tomorrow as well. It has a natural hot spring about 7 miles up from where we are camped which will be cool.

It’s comforting to be camped by flowing water. You tend to feel safer somehow, probably because you don’t need to worry about conserving the water you have. There were some ducks swimming in an open portion of the creek which was interesting to see considering we are in the desert. There are also a few mosquitos as well. And these big black beetle things and also crickets. It doesn’t really feel like Southern California down here by the creek tonight.
