PCT: Day 16

May 7th, 2016

Zero Day

Another day spent in the neat town of Big Bear. The morning was cold and sunny as we headed to breakfast at a cool dive cafe called the Grizzly Manot Cafe and had greasy but delicious omelettes and hash browns.

We dropped off and said goodbye to our Dodge Charger at the Enterprise, which was not a simple task considering the Enterprise was tucked and hidden away inside a Holiday Inn that was named something else. Very confusing but we got the job done.

We spent the rest of the day lounging and getting our heads and supplies wrapped around this next almost 100 mile stretch to the next town stop in Wrightwood. It felt good to be lazy in the motel room watching movies and eating BBQ potato chips. We watched Big with Tom Hanks and then binged on the Deadliest Catch and the Big Bang Theory. Tomorrow it will be back to watching the nature channel and eating almonds and couscous.

Town stops are fun but I think we are both ready to get back out there.

  1. Bravo guys! I am so very envious of what you are doing and have done so far. Thank you for continuing to blog so that we can live vicariously through you. This was my first time reading through all of your posts and I have to say the two of you seem the perfect compliment for a journey like this. Keep quoting your Tolle, reading Muir and discussing the awareness of ants (then consider how many of us off the trail are any more aware than the ants are) and you will find yourself at the end of the day then the end of the trail in no time. Glad you enjoyed your pair of zero days, now get going and show us more beautiful pictures of the country!

Please let me know if you need or want anything sent out in a drop box to you.
