PCT: Day 9

April 30th, 2016

Miles Hiked: 18

Total Miles: 127

Start Location: Warner Springs

End Location: Mikes Place

End Location GPS: 33.38129, -116.59066

It rained early in the morning and we woke up at the community center with a wet tent. We were the first ones up and the first ones out on the trail. It remained cloudy for the remainder of the day, with small patches of sun. It was cool and borderline cold.

The trail ascended most of the day out of the valley. There was a neat boulder  field in the afternoon that we crossed. We planned to stay there but the clouds didn’t look great. In three more miles we saw in our guidebook a place called Mikes Place with water and bunks. We decided to keep going.

We are now camped at Mikes Place, a small ranch house in the middle of absolutely no where. The caretaker Josh was making pizzas in the wood fired oven in the back yard. When we arrived we were treated to slices of pizza. After we set up the tent we joined others near the bond fire and watched the sun set over the mountains. Carolyn is feeling tired after a big 18 mile day but she did an awesome job on the trail today and I’m so proud of her.❤️

Onward.
