PCT: Day 5

April 26th, 2016

Miles Hiked: 18

Total Miles: 77

Start Location: Sunrise Trail Outhouse

End Location: Scizzors Crossing at mile 77, then Hitch to the town of Julian

We woke up inside a cold outhouse. The wind howled all night long as it battered the landscape. We were so glad to be inside an enclosed space.

We got an early start and headed out before 7. The air was cool, 35 degrees, but the sun was just emerging over the mountain top warming us.

Beautiful views all day as we decended slowly from the Mt Laguna recreation area. We finally emerged on the desert valley floor where we intersected highway 78.

When we got to the road a car was already pulled over to give another hiker a ride into town. They let us hop in as well so it was perfect timing.

We are staying at the Julian Hotal tonight. We are feeling good after getting some real restaurant food and taking a shower. We both have a few blisters on our feet that make them sore and tired- hopefully within the next week our blisters will be all collapsed over and we can move on from this stage of the hike. So tired…ready to hit the hay. Back at it tomorrow with some possible rain and thunderstorms moving through the next two days. Fun!!
