Camino Norte: Day 18

May 21st, 2017

Camping Deva to Aviles

Km walked: 32

Km total: 489

Today was mostly spent walking on pavement through two different industrial parks, broken up in the middle by a fairly long road walk through a farm. It was hot and mostly miserable, but we listened to some tunes and this made the time go by a little quicker and smoother.

We are in Aviles tonight at a motel. It is an interesting city with a lot of young people and tattoos. It’s a little gritty and artsy, with really old buildings and lots of narrow alleyways. There was a lone Burger King here and we gravitated towards it like moths to a lightbulb. It is only the second fast food place we have seen so far during our 300 miles on the Camino. I feel ashamed for how much I ate there and probably need to go to that old church I saw in town to atone for my sins.

Hopefully tomorrow offers something a little better. However, I oddly have to admit that some of these old industrial buildings were interesting to look at.
