PCT: Day 1

April 22nd, 2016

Daily Miles: 15.4

Total Miles: 15.4

Start: Southern Terminus

End: Hauser Creek

End GPS: 32.62023, -116.59567

Finally hit the trail today, and it feels good to be out here. Got up early for a 5:30 AM breakfast at Scout and Frodos and then hopped into volunteer Tims SUV and drove out to their border. The sky was perfect blue and the sun rose over the mountains as we drove east.

We snapped a quick photo at the monument and off we went. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I didn’t think it was going to be this green and have so many trees. It was really beautiful.

We hiked to Hauser Creek and are camping here for the night under large trees that shift and sway in the breezy air.  We are  here with one other hiker Tyler who shared some swigs of his whiskey with us to commemorate the beginning of this journey.

  1. How exciting!!! I am experiencing this hike through your adventure, since it is something I would love to do, but will not be able to. So travel on, enjoy, be safe, and thank you for the adventure!!! I’m looking forward to seeing from afar.
