It was a hard day today. But the scenery was great. I battled a headwind all day which made the rolling hills I now find myself in quite unbearable. Today was one of the lowest average paces yet. And as a result, my legs are tired and my body hurts.

My maps now have elevation profiles on them. This isn’t a good sign. I’m beginning to enter into Texas Hill Country, a forboding name for a cyclist. I suppose I’ve had it easy up until now. It’s been pretty flat so I shouldn’t complain too much. I knew this was going going to happen at some point anyway so it’s not a big surprise.

I had to pay to camp tonight. There was no way around it. It goes against my morals but that’s okay. There is a bathroom and running water, and I’m camped right on a big resevoir, and it’s very pretty and quiet which is nice.

Sleep will come easy tonight.
