ST: Day 7

Daily Miles: 67.4

Total Miles: 432.7

Max: 37 mph!!! (Big Downhill from a bridge)

Avg: 15.1 mph

Time on the Bike: 04:26:41

I woke up before dawn and was riding my bicycle by 7:30. I had an ambitious goal of reaching Panama City, over 80 mile away, so I wanted to make sure I got an early start.

The ride was fantastic all day. I hugged the shoreline and had views of the Gulf consistently. I veered off Highway 98 at one point to stay near the coast and was greeted to a pretty awsome road with minimal traffic and great views. I stopped at an observation lookout for a snack at mile 49 and had to reevaluate my getting to Panama City.

Because of my detour I added about 7-8 miles. My rear was also really uncomfortable and I wasn’t sure I’d be okay for another 3-4 hours in the saddle. I perused my options while eating some peanuts and came to the conclusion to stop at Mexico Beach which was only 18 or so more miles. There was a neat looking motel by the ocean for really cheap, just a few dollars more than it would have cost me to camp, so pretty much a no brainer.

Im sitting on the beach right now watching the sun set. The beach here is public access and stretches for a good while, like 5 or so miles. There are a few people walking the beach and looking at the sunset too. I wonder if they live here or are visiting. I suppose in some way we are all visitors. We pretend not to be but we can’t help it. At the end of the day, when the sun goes away, and the moon comes out to dance among the stars, the world does not belong to anyone.
