ST: Day 5

Daily Miles: 70.3

Total Miles: 299.1

Average Speed: 13.3 mph

Max Speed: 30.2 mph

It was 25 degrees this morning so I put on all my available clothes and braved the outside air.

I warmed up quick and was actually comfortable. I had a tailwind most of the day which was nice, and I made good time to Tallahasee and finished riding around 2:30. Old St road going into TAL was kind of a nightmare. Very skinny two lane road with many steep hills. The traffic increased the closer I got into town and I had to pull off the road several times to let large garbage trucks safely pass me.

I don’t care riding into (and out of) large cities. It’s mostly annoying and frustrating.

Anyway, I’m staying at the “Bicycle House” tonight. Scott, who owns the bike shop, lives there as well and has a spare room he lets touring cyclists crash at for the night. He’s a neat guy and opens his shop up to the community and offers repair and maintenance classes. It’s a cool space.

Tallahassee is somewhat neat and the bike shop is near Florida A&M University. I ate somewhere called “Voodoo Dog” and it was pretty good. Thankful that I’m inside again for the 4th night in a row. Maybe going to some caverns tommorrow or stop short at a large lake. We will see. Still don’t know what I’m doing out here. Not particularly head over heels with the experience so far.
