Sherburne Pass to Sunrise Shelter<\/p>\n

We slept okay by Route 4, across the street from the Inn at the Long Trail, despite there being cars going back and forth over the Pass all night.<\/p>\n

Last nights damp tenting spot<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe day was just okay. There were no views, just up and down trail that meandered through the woods. Early on we made it to the junction were the Long Trail splits from the AT.\n

Just on the Long Trail now; bye AT<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nAt times the trail was quite ambiguous and overgrown. It\u2019s clear they don\u2019t spend much time maintaining this section. There\u2019s not much to see anyway.\n

We only really wanted to do 13 miles but the shelter at that mile point was full\u2026at 3:30 in the afternoon. We decided to push on to the next one 6 miles away. There was a storm coming and we didn\u2019t want to spend it outside in the tent.<\/p>\n

Some kind of mushroom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nAbout 2 miles from the shelter the storm came. The woods got really dark and the sky rumbled. Wind whipped through the trees and then it began to rain. It was a really cold rain. The temperature was in the 50s, and I was glad to have my poncho.\n

A root riddled trail<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nWe made it to the shelter and were the only ones there. One other guy came after us. It\u2019s not the nicest shelter but it is dry.\n

It\u2019s very cold tonight. Almost too cold for the end of June. It feels more like spring or fall. It\u2019s a wet cold that chills you to your bones.<\/p>\n
